Welcome to ladarts.com An artistic journey through Gloucester’s rich maritime history as seen through my eyes and the lens of my family’s legacy. This website is dedicated to the growing Dahlmer family tree and the enduring essence of fishing life in Gloucester over the past 400 years
Through my art, I capture reflections of island life and the deep heritage of the fishing industry, dating back to the days of Champlain. The narrative is deeply personal: in 1911, my grandfather, John Dahlmer, along with his brother Lawrence and son Ronald, sailed the newly-launched Margaret D. from Charlevoix, Michigan, to Gloucester. They followed the very route that had welcomed many new families from the Great Lakes just a year prior.n the coming years, I will share through my work a vivid reflection of the incredible changes and enduring traditions witnessed within just a couple of generations of our family’s time here.
